BIO SA
Our Services
With our controlled production infrastructure, we operate in two core areas: research-grade scorpion venom production and sustainable scorpion breeding.
Scorpion Venom Production
BIO SA produces research-grade scorpion venom, primarily from scientifically valuable species such as Androctonus crassicauda. Scorpion venom is a complex biological material containing peptides, proteins, enzymes and compounds capable of interacting with specific ion channels. Scientific studies on A. crassicauda venom have identified a broad range of molecular components, making it a valuable research material for pharmacology, toxicology, biochemistry and biotechnology.
Animal welfare, hygiene, sample integrity and traceability are central to our production process. Venom is collected by trained personnel under controlled conditions using low-level electrical stimulation designed to avoid permanent harm to the animal. Scientific comparisons indicate that controlled electrical stimulation can reduce trauma and hemolymph contamination compared with manual extraction methods.
Collected samples are transferred into appropriate laboratory containers, documented and preserved under controlled cold-chain conditions to help maintain their biological properties. With an active breeding population of 12,000 scorpions and established production capabilities, BIO SA aims to provide reliable and sustainable supply to universities, research laboratories, biotechnology companies and pharmaceutical R&D organizations.
Scorpion Breeding
BIO SA carries out professional scorpion breeding in controlled production environments designed around the biological needs and natural behavioral patterns of each species. Our breeding population primarily includes Androctonus crassicauda and other species with scientific and biological research value.
Temperature, humidity, shelter, feeding routines and environmental stress levels are regularly monitored to support healthy development and sustainable production. Laboratory husbandry studies show that factors such as temperature, diet and maintenance conditions can influence both scorpion health and the quantity and biological characteristics of the venom produced.
The life cycle, feeding, development, reproductive status and health observations of the colony are documented to maintain traceability. Species-appropriate shelters, controlled environmental conditions and handling practices designed around natural behavior help minimize unnecessary stress.
With an active population of 12,000 scorpions, BIO SA currently maintains sustainable capabilities in both live scorpion breeding and scorpion venom production. Our objective is not only to expand production capacity, but also to establish a reliable biological supply system based on animal welfare, biosafety, documented production and consistent scientific quality.
